Alli Young, Founder of The Forem, steps on to the New York Launch Pod to discuss her accelerator designed to get women further, faster in their careers.
By connecting professional women to coaches and experts, The Forem provides hands on support and advice through workshops and one-to-one training. Through The Forem training, women at all levels and tenure develop critical skills for career advancement or for starting and scaling a business. According to Alli the skills that get women into middle management are not necessarily the skills that are going to get her out and into leadership. As a result, The Forem launched new curriculum called ‘The Five Critical Skills’ which teaches frameworks for negotiating confidently, fostering a network, building a personal brand, learning financial fluency, and mastering leadership. All geared towards advancing women.
Since the responsibility of advancing women’s careers shouldn’t fall on women themselves, The Forem also offers corporate training to reduce unconscious bias and help companies recognize the extraordinary talent they already have within their ranks. This is particularly important because according to, Alexis Krivkovich, partner at McKinsey, for every 100 women are promoted to an entry level manager 130 men are being promoted to the same position.
Listen to the episode to learn how Alli leveraged 20 years in the technology industry and 11 years in leadership at Google to start The Forem, how The Forem is advancing women’s careers and why Alli is so passionate about The Forem’s mission.
